The One World Centre has a regular pattern of work with schools which includes a Primary Short Film competition, a Fairtrade Conference for Primary schools, a Poetry Slam for Year 7 students and the One World Charity Challenge for Year 12 students.
In addition we offer workshops, assemblies and one-off lessons as well as CPD on Global Learning (including the Global Teacher Award).
Each year we stage a Global Village on the Manx National Day, 5th July. This provides an opportunity for local charities working internationally to showcase their work. It also celebrates the wealth of diversity on the Island with food from different countries and displays of dancing, music and martial arts. In recent years the event has been extended to promote sustainable development locally as well as internationally and we are now joined by several Manx-based environmental groups.
We look for new opportunities of raising awareness of global issues and enabling people to make connections between the Isle of Man and the wider world.
